Shirley Mae Taylor, 79 of Sedalia, passed away, Thursday, April 25, 2013 at
Fairview Nursing Home. She was born on January 27, 1934, in Georgetown, MO, a
daughter of John Raus and Marguerite Olive (Jaeckal) Mettenburg.

On April 21, 1950, in Marshall, MO, she was united in marriage to Freddie Lee
Taylor, who preceded her in death on February 21, 2001.

Shirley worked at Interstate Studios and Bothwell Regional Health Center,
Sedalia. On September 15, 1946, at the age of 12, she was baptized a Christian
into the Baptist faith. She never questioned the tragedies in her life, because

her faith and love for her Lord and Savior was strong. Shirley was a member of
First Baptist Church and The Gleaners Sunday School Class. She loved flowers,
working in the yard, cleaning and fried chicken. She enjoyed old hymns and
going to musicals. She enjoyed spending time with family and sending cards to
others. After retiring, she made it her mission to visit homebound friends
every week.

She is survived by one daughter, Ginger (Paul) Coffelt of Sedalia; one sister,
Maggie (Dennis) Hoehns of Cole Camp; three brothers, Alfred (Roxanne) Mettenburg

of Princeton, KS, Harold (June) Mettenburg of Hobart, IN and Howard Mettenburg
of Otterville; two grandchildren, Jeffrey (Amy) Coffelt and Karen (Fred)
Gottman; five great grandchildren, Bruce and Kurt Coffelt and Addison, Isaac and

Tyler Gottman; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet
Marie Taylor, a sister, Mary Mueller and a niece, Kathy Martin.

Funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm, Monday, April 29, 2013, at First
Baptist Church, Sedalia with Rev. Marlin Brown officiating.

Pallbearers will be Roger Mueller, John Mueller, Nick Mettenburg, David
Mettenburg, Bill Raines Ron McCoy, and Brandon Ream.

Honorary bearers will be nieces and nephews and The Gleaners Sunday School
Class.

Burial will be at Mt. Herman Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Rea
Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Mt. Herman Cemetery in care of the
funeral chapel.
