Wilmer F. Duncan (1918 - 2013)

Wilmer F. Duncan, 94, of Windsor, Missouri, died Monday evening, August 12, 2013, at the Windsor Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Windsor.

He was born November 16, 1918, the son of Wilmot R. Duncan and Meda Izora (Fine) Duncan. On February 20, 1944, in Charleston, North Carolina, he married Ila Marie Hix and she preceded him in death on May 14, 1994.

Wilmer was a farmer, operating a Grade A Dairy farm for several years. He also worked as a carpenter and furnace maintenance man at Whiteman Air Force Base, Knob Noster, Mo., for about 20 years. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II, receiving a Purple Heart. Wilmer was an avid hunter and fisherman. He attended the Bethel Assembly of God Church, Sedalia, Mo., and also was a member of the VFW Post #2610, Windsor.

Survivors include 2 daughters: Wilma Jean Wallen, and her husband, Kyle, Sedalia, MO, Betty M. Kelly, and her husband, Larry, Windsor, MO; 3 grandchildren: Kristy Laine Hutchings, Patrick Scott Kelly, James Dale Kelly; 6 great-grandchildren: Serena Grace, Myah Gabriel, Jenna Noel, Brianna Rene, Rayanna and Billey.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded by a brother, Alfred Duncan; and 2 sisters: Alpha Rice, Marjorie Bird; two nephews: Eugene Bird and Leroy Rice.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 17, 2013, at the Assembly of God Church, Windsor, MO. The family will receive friends 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., before the service at the church. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Laurel Oak Cemetery, and contributions may be left in care of the funeral home.
