Robert L. Gee

FORTUNA - Robert L. "Bob" Gee, 75, of Fortuna, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. He was born May 14, 1938, in Sibley, Missouri, a son of the late Lee H. and Sarah Elizabeth (Herndon) Gee.

On June 27, 1959, at the Calvary Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, Missouri, Bob was united in marriage to Nancy J. Ficken, who survives the home.

Bob enlisted in the United States Army in 1961 and was honorably discharged on August 31, 1967. He owned and operated Bob's Fina Service Station in Fortuna. He later worked at Adkins Lawn Care in Sedalia and Nordyne. Following his retirement, he was employed part time at Walmart in Versailles.

He was a member of the Fortuna Baptist Church where he was baptized and joined the church in the spring of 1998. In his spare time he enjoyed horseback riding, fishing, hunting, gardening, dancing and listening to country music.

Bob is survived by his wife, Nancy of 54 years; his sisters, Libby Reed of Independence, Missouri, Sue Gauer and husband Harry of Lone Jack, Missouri and Peggy Harra of Buckner, Missouri; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sandra and Gene Smith of Sedalia; several nieces and nephews and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Brian "Butch" Gee and Donald Gee.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Brad Homan officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Graveside services and interment with full military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sedalia.
