Milton L. Schroder
STOVER — Milton L. Schroder, age 77, of Stover, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at his home.
He was born March 11, 1937, in Florence, a son of Clarence L. and Anna Wiecken Schroder, who are deceased. On March 5, 1960, Stover, Milton was united in marriage to Myrna Geary, who survives at their home.
He was a 1955 graduate of Stover High School and the University of Missouri, receiving his Masters in Education in 1968.
Milton served his country in the US Army, achieving the rank of Captain in the Army Reserves.
For 23 years, Milton taught vocational agriculture, retiring from the Savannah R-3 high school in Savannah. He also worked for more than 15 years at Gardner-Denver in Sedalia.
He was a member of the Savannah United Methodist Church.
He is also survived by two children, Mark (Mandy) Schroder, Greenville, S.C. and Mona (Rex) Purvis, Boonville; two sisters, Dorean Case, Stover and Wanda Dudley, Overland Park, Kans; three grandchildren, Shaun and Halie Schroder and Alexander Purvis; three nephews and five nieces.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Laverna Zimmerschied and one niece.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 25, at the Florence United Methodist Church with Pastors Jorge Arvelo and Diane Cutler officiating. Interment will be in the Florence UMC Cemetery. www.scrivner-morrow.com
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Saturday, May 24, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Florence UMC Cemetery or a local FFA Chapter.
