Martha Dolores Buchanan Farley

CANTON, N.Y. — Martha Dolores "Dee" Buchanan Farley was born May 1, 1921, in Eldon, Miller County, Missouri, to William Harris and Grace Alexander Buchanan. She was baptized and became a member of First Baptist Church in Eldon at 11 years of age. She attended school in Eldon-Waverly and Lexington. Dee worked in cosmetics at Main Street Drug, Sedalia Drug, and Grant's department store in Sedalia – but she was most of all a homemaker, volunteering for the Sedalia schools and Cub Scouts.

She loved her home, ballroom dancing, and gardening.

Dee was married June 15, 1940, to James E. Farley, who was killed on January 4, 1978, while on his job at the Union Pacific Railroad. Surviving are a son Michael, his wife Barbara, grandson James, and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of Sedalia First Baptist Church, Christian Workers Sunday School class, Auxiliary to Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, and a charter member of Association of Railway and Retired Employees Unit 42, which she served as secretary and treasurer.

Dee died on June 18, 2014 at the United Helpers Maplewood Campus, Canton, New York, where she had been a resident since 2012. A visitation will be held at the McLaughlin Funeral Home, Sedalia, MO, on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 from 9:00 AM until 9:45 AM followed by a graveside service in Memorial Park, Sedalia, MO at 10:00 AM.
