Joan Helen Rumsey, 84, of Sedalia, passed away in her sleep Thursday, July 9, 2009, at her home.
She was born February 2, 1925, in Warsaw, a daughter of Joseph and Carrie Smith Yeager.
On May 24, 1958, in Sedalia, she married Ray Dean Rumsey, who died July 2, 2004.
Mrs. Rumsey was a member of New Creation Bible Church. She enjoyed traveling, attending church, reading the Bible, and watching television ministries. When she was younger, she flew an airplane and was a yearbook salesman.
Surviving are a son, Michael Dean Rumsey, of Sedalia; two grandsons, Jacob Dean Rumsey and John Joseph Burkey; a daughter-in-law, Joan Burkey; and a sister, Ruth Dowland.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John Russell Burkey; a brother, Jim Yeager; and two sisters, Pauline Harrison and Dee Thrasher.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Heckart Funeral Home, with Pastor Tony Kroeger officiating.
Burial will be later in Mt. Herman Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at Heckart Funeral Home.
