Donald G Borum, 77, of Tipton, died Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at his home.
He was born March 5, 1935, in West Frankfort, IL, to Seville S. and Beulah M. Mitchell Borum.
He was married on May 24, 1954 in Lee's Summit to Norma Jane Myers, and they spent over 48 years together until her death in July, 2002.
A minister's son, he attended schools in different states, and received his higher education at Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, MO; Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, OK; and Union University in Jackson, TN. During this time, he taught piano and voice, taught high school one year and was Minister of Music and Education for over 15 years. Moving to Lee's Summit, he worked at KU Medical Center over 18 years as Program Manager/Coordinator of Continuing Medical Education. Leaving KU, he was a school bus driver for Lee's Summit R-VII and after moving to Tipton, he drove 9 months for Clarksburg and over 5 years for Tipton.
He is survived by two sons-Charles R Borum and his wife, Terri of Versailles; Donald Borum, Jr. of Lee's Summit; and one daughter-Paula M. Borum of Tipton; one brother-Gary R. Borum and wife, Peggy of Gainesville, FL; two grandsons-Steven R. Borum and Charles A. Borum and wife Christy along with 2 great grandchildren-Analyssa and Coralynn and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife and one brother-Ted R. Borum, whose wife still lives in Cape Girardeau, MO.
Mr. Borum loved to travel, hunt, fish, rock hunt, work on his home and property and be with his family and friends.
A memorial service will be Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Tipton. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
