Melvin Ray "Bud" Harrell, age 83, of Sedalia died on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Bothwell Regional Health Center. He was born on July 3, 1929 in Sedalia, son of Clarence and Ada Carver Harrell. He was married on September 6, 1952 in Stover, Missouri to Lavera "Fritz" Semkin, and she survives of the home.

Bud graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in 1947. He worked as a machinist for the Missouri Pacific Railroad and then he worked for Rival Manufacturing Company. He then returned to the Missouri Pacific Railroad and retired in 1992. He was a member of the Sunrise Optimist Club and Sedalia Masonic Lodge No. 236 A.F. & A. M. He belonged to the Sedalia Good Sams Camping Club. He enjoyed fishing, camping and golf. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Greg Harrell (Judy) of Sedalia, one daughter, Diane Rothen (Jeff) of Lenexa, Kansas, one brother, Robert Harrell, of Clinton, Missouri, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Harrell.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday, February 11, 2013 at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Downing, Jr. officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be: Alex Harrell, Andrew Harrell, Miles TaylorSteele, Brett Atkinson, Blake Atkinson, Steve Goldsmith. Honorary pallbearers will be: Charles Merk, Willis Charles, Kenneth Emery, Mike Albin and Steve Galliher. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 10, 2013. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church Downtown.
