Virginia Clair (Dietz) Murray, 94, passed from this human life in the early morning of April 12, 2013. She had been a long term resident of Citizens Nursing Home, Frederick, Md. She was with relatives and close friends at the time of her passing.
Born on July 13, 1918 in Charleroi, PA, and living there during her early years, she was one of the first women to attend the Charleroi Business College. When she married her husband Lyman, they moved to Sedalia, MO where they lived until retirement when they moves to Port Charlotte, FL.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her son, Tony. She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Kelly Nieman (a 1962 graduate of Smith Cotton High School), and son-in-law, Ted Nieman, of Frederick, Md. Her granddaughter Laura Nieman, lives in San Diego, Ca. She is also survived by her grandson, Dugan Murray of Raytown, MO, his wife Lori and four great grandchildren: Kristen Pugh and husband John, Kyle Palmer currently on active duty with the United States Marines, Kimi Meyers and husband Chris and Kelly Palmer. Two great, great grandchildren, Wesley and Isaiah, are the children of Kristen and John Pugh. She will also be dearly missed by Marilyn and Mike Bush of Raytown, MO.
Virginia worked in Sedalia for the Pettis County Extension office for many years as an Environmental Processor. She was noted for the dedication and detail in her work. An advocate animal lover, she supported and held various offices in the local humane society. Her family remembers her wonderful dinners, her sewing crafts and her love of doing cross word puzzles. During her retirement years in Florida, Virginia loved playing cards with friends, taking long walks and being active in the Senior Citizens organization of Port Charlotte.
A graveside service will be held on July 13, 2013 at Highland Sacred Gardens in Sedalia, MO. Individual memorial contributions should be made to local Hospice or Humane Society organizations, in her name.
