Calvin Hugh Potter

TIPTON — Calvin Hugh Potter, 64, of Tipton, MO passed away at Moniteau County Care Center, in California, MO on March 11, 2014. He was born August 23, 1949 to Hugh Potter and Cecile Chinn-Potter in Denver, CO. Who preceded him in death.

Calvin married Debra Kay Hodges, who survives at the home, on July 13, 1974 in Clarksburg, MO.

They have four daughters and six grandchildren. Ruth Michelle Potter, with boyfriend Jason Hill of Hartshorn, MO. Kimberly Kay Barnes with husband Craig Barnes, Jennifer Leigh Potter, all of Tipton, MO, and Leslie Dawn Potter with boyfriend Bruce Crider of Cole Camp, MO. Grandchildren include Cassidy Renee', Lacey Rachelle, and Matthew Michael, all of Hartshorn, MO. Austin Cameron, Travis Lee and Xandra Kay, all of Tipton, MO.

Calvin graduated from California High School in 1968. He proudly served in The United States Army during the Vietnam War. Calvin was Acting Sergeant, for 11th Armored Cavalry "Blackhorse Trooper". Calvin worked many places in life, including Nordyne, where he worked for 17 years. Calvin loved fishing, gardening, wood working, playing pool and riding motorcycles. He loved spending time with the girls and grandchildren.

Other survivors included sister Florene Rowles, of Tipton, MO, Aunt Edna Potter of Clarksburg, MO and several sister and brothers in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews, many honorary kids, and honorary grandkids.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Rick Ashbaugh. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014.Military honors will be at funeral home after service. Inturnment at Sappington Cemetery in Clarksburg, MO at a later date.

In leau of flowers memorials are suggested to the Clarksburg Community Betterment Organization c/o the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, MO.
