Dorothy Belle Mackey Nuckols

Dorothy Belle Mackey Nuckols, of Louisville, passed away of congestive heart failure Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013 at Baptist Health. Born June 23, 1940 in Anderson County, she grew up in Simpsonville and graduated from Simpsonville High School in 1959. Dorothy attended Spencerian College and graduated from secretarial school. She worked at Sears, Baptist Building, Farm Bureau and retired from Landmark in Shelbyville after 18 years. Dorothy married Frank Nuckols April 3, 1965 and had a son, John William Nuckols who was born Jan. 7, 1969. She had a special granddaughter that she enjoyed taking care of, Meagan Nichole Nuckols, born August 10, 1993. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Edith Mackey; and brother, Raymond Mackey. Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Frank Nuckols; son, John Nuckols (Trish Aslin); granddaughter, Meagan Nichole Nuckols Woford (Calvin); sisters, Viola Poe and Carolyn Eades; niece, Teresa Hulette; nephew, Darrell Eades; five great-nephews and one great-niece. She also enjoyed family and friends, fishing, UK basketball, especially God and church. Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24 at St. Matthews Baptist Church, 3515 Grandview Ave. with burial to follow in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Matthews Baptist Church or the .
