James "Ronnie" Mitchell

James "Ronnie" Mitchell, 74, died Wednesday, Feb. 26 in Shelbyville. He was a tool and die maker who retired in 2007 from Roll Forming after 42 years of service. He was a member of the Burks Branch Baptist Church where he had been a church trustee and long-time choir member. He also was a long-time member of UK Sports 101 Club. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Mitchell; and sister, Rhetta June Sams. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Martha Mitchell of Shelbyville; son, J. Brian Mitchell of Stamford, CT; daughter, Valerie Mitchell of Elmburg; step-daughter, Barbara Poe (John) of Bardstown; step-son, Timothy Figg of Shelbyville; brothers, Harold Mitchell of Pleasureville and Ernest Lee Mitchell (Hazel) of Frankfort; sister, Rosa Nell Griffith of Shelbyville; grandsons, Patrick Smith, Jordyn McKinney, and Travis Green; and 3 great grandsons. Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday at the Shannon Funeral Home with Dr. Billy Betts officiating. Visitation: 2-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial: Grove Hill Cemetery.
