Martha Ford Harper

SHELBYVILLE – Martha Ford Harper, 84, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, 12 May 2013, at Crestview Care and Rehabilitation Center in Shelbyville. Born in Christiansburg in Shelby County, she was the daughter of the late Hubert Kesler and Mary Olive McCann Ford and the widow of William Hughes Harper. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shelbyville. A retired bookkeeper, she was formerly employed at the old A&P grocery and afterward at Graybeal Auto Parts. An unwavering fan of UK sports, particularly basketball, her favorite hobbies and pastimes included quilting, cooking, reading, and caring for her family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Mark Ford Harper, her great-grandson, Robert Allen Schell, her brothers, William "Boo" Ford and Jack Ford, and her sisters, Helen Baker and Sara Catherine Miller. Survivors include her son, Barry Hughes Harper of Lafayette, Alabama; her daughter, Marcia Kay Harper of Shelbyville; her five grandchildren, Stephanie Kay Harper, John L. Bowling, Amanda Hightower, Samuel Bowling, and Emily Schell Smith; and her eight great-grandchildren, Stephen Mark Harper, Braydon Hughes Harper, Destiny Renee Schell, Hunter Bowling, Christian Bowling, Amelia Ann Hill, Shawn Alexander Schell, and Sara Louise Warren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, 15 May 2013, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Shelbyville, with Dr. Fred T. Moffatt, Jr., officiating. Interment will be in the Bagdad Cemetery, Bagdad, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, 14 May 2013, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Shelbyville.
