William D. ?Billy? Dempsey

William D. ?Billy? Dempsey, 79, of Frankfort, died on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at his daughter's home. He moved to his daughter's home after living in Florida for many years. Billy was born Aug. 15, 1933 in Louisville to the late Willie Dempsey and Katherine West Dempsey. Billy was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ann Jamison and Anna Louise Dempsey. Billy attended church at Olive Branch Methodist. He worked in construction and then drove a truck for a coal company from which he retired. In his spare time he loved to work with ceramics, travel, and feed his animals. Survivors include two daughters, Debra Armstrong of Frankfort and Melissa Harrod of Lawrenceburg; brothers, Bobby Dempsey of Taylorsville and Danny Joe Dempsey of Shelbyville; sister, Jeannie LeCompte of Clay City; his companion for 30 years Mary Ann James; grandchildren, John Armstrong, Jeremy Armstrong, Devin Harrod, Ezekiel Harrod; great-grandchildren, Breanna Woodside, Madison Armstrong. Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Ransdell Funeral Home Home in Campbellsburg. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and after 11 a.m. on Friday until 2 p.m. Interment services to follow at Campbellsburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family has requested that memorial donations be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 663 Teton Trail, Frankfort, Ky. 40601.
