David Lee Payne, 79, died June 20th in Louisville. He was as a truck driver with Southwestern Tobacco Company and was a member of Pleasureville Methodist Church. He enjoyed working on vintage cars and working in the outdoors. He was preceded in death by his parents, James William Payne and Lucille Tolbert Payne; his daughter, Charlotte Payne Moore; his sister, Winnie Loving; his brothers, Albert Payne, Dennis Greene, John Payne, Frank Payne, and Billy Payne; a grandson and 2 great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Brooks Payne of Simpsonville; his daughter, JoAnn Payne Joe (Edward) of Louisville; his sisters, Ella Ford of Louisville, Mary Payne of Louisville, Hallie Loving (Winifred) of Shelbyville, and Shirley Greene of Frankfort; his 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Funeral: 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Shannon Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Marshall officiating. Visitation: 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial: Eminence Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy: WHAS Crusade for Children or American Diabetes Association.
