Donald, 75, began his Heavenly journey in the early morning of Wednesday, January 22, 2014. Born in Bagdad, he was the son of the late Ezra Thomas and Cleta Blanche Yeary Jones. A lifelong Shelby County resident, he was a proud veteran of the United States Army and a retired highway foreman for the Kentucky Department of Transportation. He loved God and his family. He also enjoyed nature, a hard day's work, a good joke, his coffee club buddies at McDonalds, and the ability to help family, friends, and neighbors. He was a member of the Clayvillage Baptist Church.
He and his loving wife, Evelyn, recently celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary. He also has a son, Michael, and a daughter, Kimberly Evans (Terry), of Lexington, along with four beautiful granddaughters, Abigail, Madeline, and Natalie Jones and Olivia Evans; two sisters, Betty Hedges of Pleasureville and Patty Reeves of Hanover, Indiana; and a brother, James Jones of Frankfort.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, the 25th day of January, 2014, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Shelbyville, with Reverend Lee Bolton and Reverend Vernon Carpenter officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M., until 8:00 P.M., Friday, at Hall-Taylor. Interment will be in the Bagdad Cemetery, Bagdad, Kentucky.
