Dorothy Becklenberg, 102, nee Plotz, of Shelbyville, KY, formerly of Winnetka, IL, passed away peacefully at the Masonic Home of Shelbyville on Aug 25th, 2013. She is the much-loved wife of the late Fred, Jr. and the devoted mother of 8 children: the late Fred, III; Bobbie (the late Fran) McManus; the late Bro. Paul, SJ; John (MaryAnn); Marianne (Bob) Franz; Marty; Dolly (Dave) Moser; and Marie (Stephen) Biagi. She will be greatly and sadly missed by her 20 grandchildren, numerous granddaughters - and grandsons-in-law, and her 30 precious great-grandchildren. Dorothy is pre-deceased by her loving parents, Paul and Loretto Plotz, and her beloved sister Anne (the late Gene) Carmichael. Dorrie had a life-long love of music, and her favorite pastime was gathering dear friends and family around her piano for an old-fashioned sing-along. Until very recently, she would often entertain at various nursing homes, most especially at her current home, The Masonic Home in Shelbyville, where she was also a member of their Bell Choir. Visitation will be held before services on Sat., Aug 31st, at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 1077 Tower Rd, Winnetka, Illinois. Dorothy's loving nephew, Fr. Gene Carmichael, SJ, will officiate at the funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow immediately at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, Illinois.
