Edith Marie (Schoenbaechler) Lyon, 82, of Louisville, passed into eternal Life on Friday, October 5, 2018.
Edith was embraced in the loving arms of our Lord and her loving husband on Friday October 5. Edith was a retired nurse for South End Medical Clinic. She graduated from Holy Rosary and married the love of her life Bill. Married for 56 years, she and Bill moved from Louisville to Shelbyville to be closer to their grandchildren. They joined the Church of The Annunciation in Shelbyville where she became involved in volunteering for the fish fries during lent, and the summer picnic serving desserts. She loved her shopping trips to Gatlinburg every year with her sister and nieces. She loved reading and made sure she took her granddaughter to the nearest bookstore. She enjoyed her water aerobics and lunches with her friends from her community, and she cherished her Friday night sleepovers with her granddaughter.
Edith was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret (Weber); father, Martin Schoenbaechler; and husband William (Bill) Lyons.
Survivors include her twin sister, Ethel (Dub); her sons, Bob Lyons (Mary Ann) and Mark Lyons (Kelly); grandchildren, Jeremy Lyons, Brian Lyons (Megan), Craig Lyons(Sarah), Kelsey Jenkins (Dalton), and Maredith Lyons; and five great grandchildren.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at St. Paul Catholic Church; 6901 Dixie Highway, in Louisville with burial to follow in St. Andrew Cemetery. Visitation will take place Tuesday, from 2 - 8 p.m., at J.E. Ratterman & Sons on South Side Drive in Louisville.
Edith's family would like to thank Hosparus of Louisville for their exceptional care. They ask that expressions of sympathy take the form of a donation to Hosparus.
