Middleton, Ernest R. "Ernie," 82, of Simpsonville, Kentucky passed away peacefully with his family at his side January 13, 2018.
He was born July 30, 1935 in Nelson County, Kentucky to the late George Edward and Daisy (Moore) Middleton. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Della Ray Lutz, Margaret Tindle, Ida Bell Middleton and Virginia Middleton; brothers, Robert, Elmo, Frank and James Middleton.
Ernie was a farmer and very proud of his farm and cows. Over the years of milking he received awards as a Quality Producer from Milk Marketing, a Master Conservationist award and a Best Kept Dairy Farm award. His biggest hobbies were hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Betty (Roberts) Middleton of Simpsonville, Ky; son Carroll Ray (Debbie) Middleton, Mt. Washington, Ky; daughter, Brenda (David) Stump, Taylorsville, Ky; four grandchildren, Stephanie Terrell, and Christina (Billy) Hardin of Taylorsville, Michael (Lesley) Middleton, Louisville, Ky, Patrick (Kayla) Mitchell, Bardstown, Ky; six great grandchildren, Christina, Ethan, Amber, Cassidy, Holly, Bryce; and a sister, Daisy Carrier, Mt. Washington, Ky.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Shannon Funeral Home in Shelbyville, Kentucky. Visitation will be held from 2 â€" 8 p.m. Wednesday January 17, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Todd's Point, Kentucky.
