SHELBYVILLE - Harold H. Long, 83, of Shelbyville, died on Wednesday, the 28th day of March, 2018, at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville. Born in Cropper, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Frank and Elizabeth Catherine Hanna Long. A graduate of Bagdad High School, he joined the Army National Guard prior to graduation. He then served twenty-eight years in the Kentucky Army National Guard. He was also a farmer and, after retiring from the National Guard, worked as the general manager of America Place in Clarksville, Indiana. Even in semi-retirement he enjoyed working and helped manage Sunshine Farms near Peytona. His memberships included the Masonic Lodge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Roy Long, and his sister, Anna Mary Long.

His survivors include his wife of over sixty-one years, Dorothy Perry Long of Shelbyville; his son, Colonel Tim Long USAF Ret., and his wife, Cheryl, of Keller, Texas; his daughter, Teresa Balla of Shelbyville; and his three grandchildren, Matthew Long, Jenny Long, and Katie Long.

Memorial services will be conducted at 6:00 P.M., Monday, the 2nd day of April, 2018, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Shelbyville with Reverend Harry Hebert officiating. Visitation will be from follow the service, until 8:00 P.M., Monday, 2 April 2018, at Hall-Taylor. Interment will be in the Dutch Tract Cemetery in Pleasureville, Kentucky. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project, Post Office Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675; or to the Shelby County Humane Society, 400 Hudson Boulevard, Shelbyville, Kentucky 40065.
