James "Jimmie" C. Runner, 78, Shelbyville, died unexpectedly Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at his home. A native of Nelson County, he was the son of the late Matthew and Doranna Dadisman Runner. He relocated to Shelbyville with his family as a teenager. He retired as a supervisor from Roll Forming Corporation after 38 years of service. He had previously served as fire chief for the Shelby County Volunteer Fire Department, he drove a school bus for Shelby County Public Schools for seven years and was a realtor with W. A. Smith Realty Company for ten years. He was also a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He often visited people in local nursing homes and greatly enjoyed those visits. He always put other people ahead of his own needs. In addition to his parents, one brother, Wendell Runner, preceded him in death. Survivors include his daughter, Dora Runner of Shelbyville; two brothers, Larry (Bonnie) Runner of Fern Creek and Michael (Wanda) Runner of Bloomfield; one sister-in-law, Blanche Runner of Bloomfield; six nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2013 at Webb Funeral Home with visitation 3-9 p.m. on Thursday. Rev. Jesse O. Baxter will officiate. Burial will follow at Grove Hill Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy made be in the form of contributions toward the funeral expenses. Arrangements have been entrusted to Webb Funeral Home.
