John C. Tolliver, 85, of New York City, formerly of Lexington, died Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville. A native of Bald Hill in Fleming County, Kentucky, he was born to the late John Cooper Tolliver Sr., and Bessilene Hysong Tolliver. He was preceded in death by his brother, William L. Tolliver. His survivors include his brother, Charles Lee Tolliver of Statesboro, Ga.; sisters, Velma Tolliver Parmerton of Fort Myers, Fla., and Wilma Tolliver Mangione of Earlysville, Va. Private services will be conducted at the Riverview Cemetery in Charlottesville, Va., and interment will follow. Expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Lexington Children's Theatre, 418 West Short Street, Lexington, Ky. 40507.
