John Lee (Jack) Coots Jr., 78, of Shelbyville passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2014 in Louisville. He was born in Charlestown, Ind., the son of J.L. and Ada Coots. Following serving in the United States Army, be returned home, where he and his father, J.L. Coots, Sr., operated Green Valley Guernsey Dairy Farm in Finchville. Jack continued his connection with agriculture and was a board member of the Shelby County A & M Association. He had been a school bus driver for Shelby County Public Schools. He is preceded in death by his father, J.L. Coots, his mother, Ada Ross Coots and his sister, Anita Coots Duvall. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Beverly Davis Coots; his daughter, Patsy Loflin (Clifford) of Sophia, North Carolina; his son, John Ross Coots (Marcelline), of Louisville and three grandchildren, Daniel Loflin, Rachel Maguire (Chris), and Meredith Coots. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at the Shannon Funeral Home with Rev. David Nichols officiating. Visitation will be noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The burial at the Grove Hill Cemetery will be private.
