Johnny Bruce Thurman, 77, of Shelbyville, passed away at his residence Saturday March 9, 2013. He was a native of Lewis County, Ky., retired truck driver of Overnite Transportation after 15 years of service, and a former employee of Ohio Valley Aluminum of Shelbyville. Mr. Thurman attended Shelbyville Church of God, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming & gardening. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bonnie Louise Howard Thurman of Shelbyville; his daughters, Brenda Thurman of Shelbyville & Linda Shelton of Mocksville NC.; son, Roger Thurman of Taylorsville; brother, Virgil Thurman of Ohio; 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents George Turner & Hattie Brewer Thurman, his son Richard Lee Thurman, his sisters; Ellen Thurman Nora Correll, Geraldine Cole, Nellie Walters, brothers; William, Howard, Harold, Robert, Clark, & Wayne Thurman. Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Shannon Funeral Home in Shelbyville, with Brother Roger Thurman officiating and burial in Grove Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville. Visitation will be Tuesday March 12, 2013 from 3 pm-8 pm and after 10 am at Shannon Funeral Home. The family requests memorial contributions to be made to Hospice of Louisville or the . Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home of Taylorsville is in charge of arrangements.
