Judy Mason Thacker Sparrow, born May 22, 1944, of Mt. Eden, KY, passed away on July 16, 2013 at Hosparus of Louisville. Judy attended public schools in Shelbyville, KY before obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Spaulding University and a Master's Degree from Eastern Kentucky University. She was a teacher in the Shelby County Public School System her entire teaching career and retired in 2000. Judy was the Cheerleader Sponsor at West Middle School, Past-President of Shelby County Teacher's Association and a member of the Kentucky Teacher's Association. She attended Van Buren Church of Christ. Judy's passion and joy were her family, friends, and students. She was the beloved wife of David B. Sparrow. Also surviving is her daughter, Candora McKinley (Jerry) of Shelbyville; her son, Victor Fallis of Pleasureville; her step-daughters, Paula Sparrow of Mt. Eden and Ginny Harrell (James) of Clearwater, FL; her sisters, Pat Darby (Bob) of Simpsonville and Linda Sue Reilly (Michael) of Lexington; her grandchildren, Catherine McKinley of Eminence, Elizabeth Nichols (Kyle) of Shelbyville, Cory Fallis of Shelbyville, Nicole and Anna Harrell of Clearwater, FL; her great grandchildren, Mason King, Ruby Atchison, Reese Nichols, and Heaven Fallis; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Shannon Funeral Home with Dathan Darby and Kent Stevens officiating. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Grove Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hosparus or Shelby County Family Fund: Reese Nichols. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for Judy during her illness and greatly appreciate the love and devotion of her many friends.
