Kathryn Sue Weir (Katie) Sjothun died Dec. 21st at Norton's Hosparus unit after 20 years of dealing with the aftereffects of lung cancer. Born January 20th, 1947 in Greenfield Indiana to Joel and Lois(Turner) Weir, and grew up in Fishers Indiana. She attended Purdue University where she met her future husband Mark on her first day there. Married in 1969 and moved to Louisville where she was a Media Buyer for several advertising agencies including Doe Anderson, ZML, Fessel, and Dulaney before opening her own media buying company, imMEDIAte Inc. Retired in the mid 90's to her horses, llamas, goat, and cats. She was a member of Maintain Our Rural Environment.
Survived by her husband of 48 years Mark Sjothun, sisters Barbara Weir (Jay Thomas) of Indianapolis and Sarah Makres (Nick) of Hickory, NC, her brother Tom Weir (Connie) of Lapel Indiana, all the gals in the Old Broads Club including Hazel, Linda, Judy, and Edie, and all her friends in Shelby County including Kathy Taylor, Kay Lockwood, Martha Ferry, and Vivian Hayes.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shelby County Humane Society. As per Katies's wishes, cremation was chosen. A memorial gathering will be at a later date.
