Linda Jo Igleheart, age 77, peacefully returned home to be with the Lord Wednesday Nov. 22 after a short stay at Norton Brownsboro Hospital.
From her birth on June 24, 1940 in Cropper, Ky. until her death, Linda, also called Mimi by many, invested her time and love in the nourishment of family and friends.
She was the daughter of E.J. Bruce and his wife, Mary Evelyn (Allison). A graduate of Shelbyville High School, Linda enjoyed a long, successful career with the Kentucky Retirement System, where she developed many friends. She worked seasonally at Wakefield-Scearce Gallery in downtown Shelbyville.
She was a member of the Simpsonville Christian Church and enjoyed relationships with other church members, especially her former mother-in-law, Eloise (Mama Perk) Perkins. Linda was an avid traveler, who kept detailed records of her journeys across the U.S. and Europe. She also loved flowers, cooking and her Bunco groups.
Linda was dedicated to her family, especially her daughter Rhonda (Rick) Bozich; three grandchildren Dillon (Brigitte) Bailey of Royal Oak, Mich; Jess Pritchett of North Miami Beach, Fla., and Julia Pritchett and three great-grandchildren, Asa, Jude and Titus Bailey. If there was a swimming meeting or activity involving her grandchildren, Linda was there.
She was admired for her Old School values of putting others first and working tirelessly to ensure visitors were welcome at her picture-perfect homes.
She gave sacrificially of her time and love. When it was a holiday or birthday, she made certain her family and guests feasted on her legendary fried chicken, creamed corn, banana bread, pumpkin pies, Benedictine, mashed potatoes and other dishes. In her later years, Linda was inseparable from her pet Chihuahua, Edie.
Linda's life will be celebrated Saturday Nov. 25 at Simpsonville Christian Church, at 7002 Shelbyville Road; in Simpsonville, Ky. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a service led by Rev. Keith Oditt, which will begin at 1. Burial will follow at Pleasureville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Linda's name to Simpsonville Christian Church.
