Mary Stanton Willis Doll, a native of Shelbyville and currently of Louisville, passed away on Tuesday, June 13 at age 84.
She was the daughter of Golder Sandidge Willis and the Honorable George L. Willis, Jr. She lived in Shelbyville until she married A. Robert Doll. In Shelbyville, she was a member of the Christian Church and valedictorian of her class at Shelbyville High School. She then went to the College of William and Mary, where she met her husband of almost 60 years. They were married in the Upper Room Chapel in Shelbyville in September 1950. After Mary Stanton graduated from William and Mary and Bob finished law school at the William and Mary School of Law, the couple lived briefly in Washington, D.C. They moved to Louisville in 1953, where they have lived ever since. Mary Stanton lost her husband in November 2009.
She is survived by her son, A. Robert Doll, Jr. (Diane), her daughter, Angela Doll Dworin (Richard), her grandchildren, Brian Potts, Ruthie Dworin, a great-granddaughter, Lily Potts, and two nieces in Shelbyville, Susan Willis Lebus and Sandi Willis McCarter.
Funeral service at 11:00 am Monday, June 18 at First Christian Church of Louisville 7700 US Highway 42. Visitation 1-5 Sunday at Pearson's 149 Breckenridge Lane, Louisville
