Robert Reed 'Bobby' Webb, 80, formerly of Shelbyville, died Monday, January 21, 2013 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville following an illness. A native of Shelbyville, he was the son of the late Ross Reed and Elizabeth McDade Webb. He was a graduate of the Shelbyville High School Class of 1951. He was a 1955 graduate of The University of the South in Sewanee, TN with a major in history. He has been the Class Alumni Coordinator since graduation. He was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. The friendships forged during his college years have continued throughout his life. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Army, having attained the rank of SP3.

He became the president of the family businesses, Webb Transfer Line and the WPB Oil Company, Shell Distribution upon the death of his father, R. Reed Webb in November 1967. He ran the trucking company until it was dissolved in the mid-1970s and the oil company was sold in the mid-1970s.
He was a past member of the Shelbyville Historical Society. His love of genealogy led him to complete an extensive study of England's monarchy, and he had compiled a book, which remained in manuscript form. Genealogy remained his hobby throughout his lifetime. He was a long-time member of St. James Episcopal Church in Shelbyville. After relocating to Louisville, he became affiliated with St. Andrews Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his sons, Ross Webb and Dolph Webb, both of Shelbyville.
A private viewing and prayer service, officiated by Rev. Peter H. Whelan, were held Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Webb Funeral Home. In accordance with his wishes, cremation followed, and a memorial service will be held on April 20, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Grove Hill Cemetery Chapel. The cremated remains will then be buried at Grove Hill Cemetery on the family plot. Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of contributions to St. James Episcopal Church, St. Andrews Episcopal Church or The University of the South in Sewanee, TN.
