Roscoe Artillous II 'Artie' Paris, 72, passed away on Sept. 30, 2017 on what would have been his 50th wedding anniversary at Baptist Hospital East from Pulmonary Fibrosis with his niece and nephew, Tara and Scott Shaver, by his side. Artie was born on Dec. 17, 1944 in Louisville, Kentucky to Roscoe and Grace Paris.
Artie was a Vietnam Veteran who was dearly devoted to America. He served in the Army from 1967-1969. He was very patriotic and wore the American flag with pride. He retired from Phillip Morris after 30 years of employment. He volunteered several years in the Prison Ministry Program at Luther Luckett Correctional Facility. He was also a member of the Masonic Homes of Shelbyville.
He was an avid toy collector that loved to buy, display, trade, and share his collections with others. He enjoyed taking long rides in the country to see animals, crops, and gently rolling country hills. Artie was a deeply devoted Christian who knew when he passed from this earth that he would join his wife, Lois, in his eternal home in Heaven.
Artie was preceded in passing by his wife Lois Jean Maddox Paris, siblings in order of birth, Georgia Anne Duvall (Travis), Clarence 'Sonny' (Mary Frances 'Franky'), Ada Paris, and Theodore Paris (Terri).
He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Tara Shaver (Scott), Barbara Sanders (Woody), Sharon Hurst (Lenny), Tifani Cole (Charles), Theodore Paris (Lesley).
When God created neighbors he gave the best to Artie in Mary LaCoco who was a great friend to both Artie and Lois and the family is eternally grateful for her.
A service in Artie's honor will be held on Saturday, October 7 at 2 PM at Arch L. Heady-Cralle Funeral Home with Bros. Rylan Allen and Jesse Baxter presiding. Visitation will be from 1 PM until time of service on Saturday. Burial with military honors will follow the service at Cave Hill Cemetery where Artie will be beside his wife.
