Roy H. Long, 86, of Louisville, formerly of Shelbyville died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013 in Louisville. He was a member of Shelbyville First Baptist Church and had previously been a member of Cropper Baptist where he was an active Deacon from 1957-1985. He was a U S Army veteran serving from Jan. 1955-December 1956 spending 18 months in Germany. He was a farmer, retired as assistant manager at Southern States Shelbyville and worked as a clerk at Hall and Davis Lumber Company. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank H. & Elizabeth Hanna Long, and sister, Anna Mary Long. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Peggy Heilman Long, Louisville; daughter, Beth Filiatreau (Bill), LaGrange and brother, Harold Long (Dorthea), Shelbyville; sister in law and brother in law, Betty Ann and Shelby Clark, Hilton Head, SC; nieces, Teresa Long, Shelbyville; Dr. Noel Clark, San Francisco, CA and nephew, Col. Tim Long, Fort Worth, Texas. Memorial service will be 2:30 P.M. Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Shannon Funeral Home with Dr. Geoffrey McGillen officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until service time. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Shelbyville First Baptist Church, 1516 Midland Trail, Shelbyville, KY 40065.
