Susan Louise Metts aka. "Sweet Sue", age 56, of Finchville, Ky. went peacefully to be with Jesus on April 2 at her home after a two year and four month battle with cancer.

Susan is survived by Steve, her friend and husband of 37 years; father, Clark Norman Miller of Ajijic, Mexico; mother Joan Welther Miller of Louisville, Ky. and a brother Greg Miller (Jordan), Birmingham, MI. Susan was blessed with many wonderful nephews, nieces and great nieces. Her love for her brothers and sisters in-law was manifestly displayed on many joyous gatherings at her home. Susan was a member of Fisherville Baptist Church.

Susan graduated from Eastern High School in Louisville, Ky. in 1979 and attended the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville before marrying and beginning a career in state government where she worked for the Kentucky State Parks and the Finance and Administration Cabinet.

Since her retirement in 2008 from the Governor's Office for Local Development where she worked with federal grants, Susan enjoyed traveling with Steve, fishing the back bays of Sanibel Island, golf, skeet, painting, bicycling and snow skiing. Susan loved her gardens, both flower and vegetable. Her zeal for canning tomatoes and green beans was well known by all whose feet rested under her table.

In secular vernacular, Susan epitomized a humble version of the term "Renaissance Woman". Her sweet spirit and loving nature had an impact on all who crossed her path. Scripture refers to it as "Christ-like" love; in that the depth of her love was in proportion to the liberty of her love. It was free and willing to all alike.

Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Shannon Funeral Home in Shelbyville, Ky. with burial at Grove Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.

Visitation will be 1-6 p.m. on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Shannon Funeral Home.

Donations can be made to Fisherville Baptist Church and Hosparus Health of Louisville. Her family is forever indebted to her wonderful nurse and all the support staff at Hosparus Health of Louisville and the Cleveland Clinic.
