Virginia Frances Murphy Beckham, 89, Shelbyville, died Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Golden Living – Hillcreek Manor Nursing Center in Louisville following a long illness. A native of Finchville, she was the daughter of the late Will and Sarah Sheckles Murphy. She was the widow of Bert Beckham, Jr. She was the kitchen manager for the world famous Claudia Sanders Dinner House in Shelbyville for many years. She was a member of Allen Chapel United Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband and parents, two sisters, Katie Davis and Myrtle Webster, one brother, John Murphy and three daughters, Marilyn McGrapth, Helen Douglas Beckham Mickey and Thelma Beckham, preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sisters, Ida Rose Locke (Charles Jr.) of Johnson City, TN, Margaret Cochran (Lilburn) of Orlando, FL and Bettye Gale Sutherland (Donnie) of Louisville; three sons, Lynn Thomas (Patricia) of Louisville, Bert William Beckham (Cindy) of Helena, AL and Winston Allen Beckham of Frankfort; one sister, Mary Margaret Davis of New Castle; two brothers, Clark Murphy (Tammy) of Louisville and William Murphy, Jr. of Finchville; 22 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Webb Funeral Home with visitation after 10 a.m. Rev. Robert M. Marshall, Sr. will deliver the eulogy, and Rev. Theodore Todd will assist him. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
