William Chester "Bill" Houchin, 86, of Simpsonville, KY, passed away Friday, September 13, 2013. He was a native of Anderson County, KY. He was born on September 29, 1926 and was the son of Tida Dean Carter Houchin and Chester Authar Houchin. A graduate of Kavanaugh High School Class of 1945, he immediately conscripted into the U.S. Army for a short period during World War II. During his early years he farmed with his family, but Bill left the farm in 1951 and drove many years for Model Farms Dairy and Beatrice Foods in Louisville, KY and was the co-operator of the Clark Station Country Store. He was a member of the Simpsonville Disciples of Christ Church, a member of Swigert-Middletown Masonic Lodge #218, and served a year as president of the Simpsonville Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 5 sisters, Louela Shely, Lucille Houchin, Georgia Belle Carter, Sally Houchin, and Edna Shouse. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Lee Inabnit Houchin of Simpsonville; two sons, William Alan Houchin (Ann) of Westfield, IN and Howard Clyde Houchin (Judi Booth) of Lawrenceburg; and 6 grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren. Funeral: 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 16th at the Shannon Funeral Home with Bro. Kenneth Shouse and the Rev. Joey Pusateri officiating. Visitation: 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial: Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy: ÿSimpsonville Disciples of Christ Church.
