Burke, William Ralph 83, was called to be with the Lord on April 21, 2013 at Baptist East Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Ralph was a man who loved the Lord and whose goodness was recognized and commented on by all. His family was his greatest joy, as was he the greatest joy of his family. He was born September 8, 1929 in Waddy, KY. He graduated from Eastern State College (now Eastern Kentucky University) where he met and married the love of his life, Bonnie Vernell Dunlap. They have two daughters, Robin and Leslie and a precious grandson, Robby. After college, Ralph served for two years as a Lieutenant in the United States Army, and served in Korea immediately following the armistice. He retired after working many years for Allied Tools in Louisville. He taught Sunday school at Lyndon Baptist Church for many years, where he also served as Deacon. Ralph and Bonnie recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Besides his wife and daughters, he is survived by his sister, Colleen Nelson of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, as well as other extended family members, adopted family members and friends too numerous to mention. Funeral will be at Ratterman Funeral Home 3711 Lexington Rd. in St. Matthews. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 25 from 5pm to 8pm and on Friday, April 26 from 9:30am to 10:30am, with the funeral service immediately following.
