Vera M. Stewart, 80, passed away on Saturday, 16 March 2013, at her residence in Simpsonville. A native of Saint Matthews in Jefferson County, she was the daughter of the late John V. and Bessie Cundiff Geoghegan. A member of the Lyndon Baptist Church, she attended the Simpsonville Baptist Church, where she was active in Awana and the Barnabus Ministry. She was a volunteer for several years with Operation Care in Shelbyville. She was a former office manager for Kresge and later for Kmart. Being a devoted grandmother, one of her greatest joys was cooking for her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of sixty-two years, Frank T. Stewart of Simpsonville; her sons, Larry Stewart and his wife, Denise, and Gary Stewart and his wife, Beth, all of Simpsonville; her sister, Fan Edington of Louisville; and her grandchildren, Zachary Stewart, Bryce Stewart, Ben Barnett, and Jack Stewart. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, 20 March 2013, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Shelbyville, with Reverend Steve Boyd officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memory Gardens at Mount Washington, Kentucky.
