Dale Adrian Kennedy, age 53 of Shelbyville, KY, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2013 at his home following a brief illness. He was born to the union of the late Emily A. Wilson and Charles C. Kennedy on April 18, 1960 in Shelbyville, KY. Dale was a 1978 graduate of Shelby County High School and a member of the 1978 State Championship Basketball Team his senior year. His membership with this winning team instilled in him a champion's heart, that inspired him throughout his life. He also attended Kentucky State University in Frankfort, KY. Dale was an avid sports and "die-heart" U of L fan. His other passions was to watch TV western shows, "shop till you drop" and Friday night poke games as well as a champion's pride in his grilling skills. Dale was known throughout our community for his generosity to his family and friends as well as his love for his children and family. He often expressed his love and desire for his children as well as his nieces and nephews to succeed in life and inspired them to achieve their life goals. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his firstborn sibling Tyrone Wilson (infancy) and his Maternal Grandmother Evelyn Jackson Wilson, who played in integral part in his upbringing and made a lasting impact on his life along with a special Aunt Lacy O. Wilson, and Uncle Rev. Elmore A. Wilson. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Jennifer Clark Kennedy, three daughters; Adrian Robinson and Jessica Kennedy of Shelbyville, KY and Remy Kennedy of Georgetown College, Georgetown,KY; one step-son, Jordan Clark of Shelbyville, KY; Siblings, Canidy Y. (Thomas) Barnett, Brian K. (Keithy) Kennedy, James "Jamie" M. Wilson, Shauna I. Wilson, George L. Wilson and Christopher (Christy) Wilson all of Shelbyville, KY.; Maternal Aunt and Personal Mentor Brenda J. Wilson of Frankfort, KY, and Maternal Aunts; Sylvia (Thomas) Marshall of Shelbyville, KY, Barbara Wilson, Mary (Leon) Benson, and Dana Wilson all of Louisville, KY and Bernice (Bishop Eric) Barnes of Somerset, KY; Maternal Uncles; Sherman Wilson, Greg (Marla) Hunter and Lucien (Kimberly) Hunter, Jr., all of Shelbyville, KY, Maternal Great- Aunts; Margaret Mack and Mary K. Alexander of Rockville MD., Paternal Aunts; Edith Webb of Shelbyville, KY and Eva Mae White, and Paternal Uncle Leroy White both of Louisville, KY, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be Thursday September 26, 2013 from 5 pm to 9 pm at Clay Street Baptist Church, and Funeral Friday, September 27, 2013 at Clay Street Baptist Church, 1940 Midland Trail, Shelbyville, KY with Elder Justin Barnes, Bishop Eric Barnes and Rev. Robert Marshall officiating, Burial will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in Shelbyville, KY. The Southern Oaks Funeral Home and Director Richard D. New of Somerset, KY, is in charge of arrangements.
