Al was the beloved husband of 67 years to Mary Passanisi Romeo, the Love of his Life. He was proud to have served his country as an army sergeant in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. As a young boy, the son of Antonio and Caterina Romeo (predeceased), he began working as a filet butcher in the family's wholesale seafood business, "A. Romeo Fish & Oyster Company". He was a vital part of the company for 50 years. He worked long and hard hours and after a day's work, his passion and pleasure was to go "fishing." Al was an avid fisherman and the accumulator of an impressive collection of fishing poles, a large number of fishing lures and accessories, and a vast repertoire of fishing stories!
Devoted brother of Mary (Julio) Poggi and Dominic (Vera) Romeo (predeceased), Caring brother-in-law to Joe and Grace Romeo (predeceased), Vince (predeceased), and Ada Passanisi, Joe (predeceased) and Betty Passanisi. Beloved cousin of Stella and Joseph (predeceased) Riccio and Tony (Vera) Romeo (predeceased).
Al was a cherished uncle to Constance Romeo, Charles (Caroline) Romeo, Frank (Gena) Romeo, Albert J. Romeo (predeceased), Joey (Linda) Romeo, Charlene Romeo, Christopher and Christina Romeo, Donna (Al) Ghaufouri, Shaun (Nathalee) Ghafouri, Shirine (David) Mitchell, Sil (Jackie) Poggi, Anthony (Vicky) Poggi, Margaret Passanisi (predeceased) Carmela Passanisi and Dominic (Sue) Passanisi.
He was a "Special Uncle to Evelyn (Joe) Longinotti, Carla (Jack) Silva & Family, John (predeceased) (Judy) Riccio and family, Diane (Jim) Land, Anne Marie (Paul) Aliotti, Gloria (Todd) Cowan. He was a proud Godfather to many.
Friends are welcome for a visitation from 4-7 PM Wednesday, April 24th, at Halsted N. Gray-Carew & English, 1123 Sutter St., San Francisco. A vigil service followed by a Funeral Mass will commence at 10:30 Thursday, April 25th at Saints Peter and Paul Church, 666 Filbert St., San Francisco. Entombment to follow at Italian Cemetery, Colma.

mary, I remember growing up with you and albie in san Francisco and camping in Yosemite with you. my mom has the picture of you and albie with the indian head dress and you with big nose glasses! when the pony I was riding ran for the barn with my mom running alongside trying to stop him with me yelling "ma! let him go" I loved albie and will miss him so. john morello.

Albie was a great friend to my husband Joe and I. We spent many hours laughing while camping in Yosemite in the early 50's. He was a wonderful story teller and dancer.
