Donna Huckins Obituary

Donna Huckins (née Smith) Dec. 1926 - Dec. 2011 Proud American who could trace her family in this country to before the Revolutionary War, Donna passed away after a brief illness. A UCLA graduate, she became a social worker for various Calif. counties. Blessed to be married for 521/2 years to Jim who was a Marine Major in WWII and Korea, and later an executive in the San Francisco area. Donna lived in S. Calif., Phoenix, Seattle, and Pittsburgh, PA while raising a daughter and son. She loved golf, bridge, swimming, bowling, dancing, knitting, and reading, and worked the crossword puzzle each morning. Her family, friends, and good neighbors kept her young - life's been good. In lieu of flowers donations may go to your favorite charity. No services are planned at her request, but if you pass her grave, "turn down an empty glass".

I had the pleasure of helping both Donna and Jim at the San Rafael Public Library for many years. They were both lovely people. Donna never stopped trying to learn how to use her email independently and it was a joy working with her. Jim always brought us pencils from his golf outings to supplement our public pencil supply. I'll think of them fondly.
