Constantine Bricca Obituary

Constantine Bricca, M.D.

May 16, 1918 - October 20, 2015

Connie passed away peacefully at home in Tiburon with his family at his side on October 20, 2015.

A third generation San Franciscan, he attended St. Ignatius High School, University of California, Berkeley, and University of Cincinnati Medical School. After serving in the US Army from 1944-1947, he practiced ophthalmology at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco for forty years.

He met his future wife, Ruth Bashor, during his ophthalmology residency at Stanford Hospital in San Francisco and they were married in 1944. Together they raised, and are survived by, their seven children: Christopher (Carol), Buz, Connie (Peggie), Barry, Tim (Janice), Carl (Beth), and Katie; 12 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his wife, Shirley Dickinson.

Connie was a passionate outdoorsman, loving nothing better than standing in cold fresh water throwing a fly line, or listening for mallards at sunrise in a duck blind. He was a member of the Olympic Club since 1928, and of the Meadow Club since 1950. His wit was renowned, and his taste for food and wine never left him. He was the last of his generation. He will be greatly missed.

A private ceremony will be held at a future date. Any gifts or donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

My heartfelt condolences to Dr B's kids, kids' kids, and wife.
When I worked for him in the 60s he was my mentor - not just a boss. I will always remember his generosity and humor, and think of him with fondness.

May God bless you all.

Dr. Bricca took care of my 3 year old soon who he determined needed to wear glasses, circa 1961. My son had to learn to tell which way the E pointed. Dr. Bricca was so patient and gave my son a whole new life with the glasses because he could finally see things as they should really be. I am forever grateful for the expertise and care of Dr. Bricca. Rest in peace.

The Schaffarzick family sends all of the Briccas sympathy, comfort, and thanks for the warm, wonderful memories over many decades. Two big families, headed up by two great doctors. I know my dear father was waiting in line to welcome your father home. God bless you.
