Albino "Al" Vigna

February 8, 1928 - November 22, 2015

Albino "Al" Vigna of Alameda passed away on Sunday, November 22nd.

Beloved husband of Louise Vigna for 57 years, dear father of Karen Vigna Watson. Idolized "Pappa" of Luke Joseph Watson, Father-in-law of Kenneth Talmage Watson, Dear brother of Piera Bigliati of Asti, Italy, the late Luciano Vigna of Alameda, and the late Vincenzo Vigna of Torino, Italy. Brother-in-law of Giorgio Bigliati of Asti, Italy and the late Joanne Vigna of Alameda, loving uncle of Patrizia and Paola Bigliati of Asti, Italy. He is survived by relatives in New York, California and Italy. A native of Costigliole d'Asti, Italy and Korean War Veteran from 1951-1953.

Lifetime member of the Ligure Club of Oakland, the Italian American League-Alpicella-Alameda Italian Club, Alameda Golf Club, Fratellanza Club Bocce Ball League. Former owner of Al's Barber Shop for 61 years in Alameda. Former member of the West Alameda Business Association. Upon retirement, he was honored by the City of Alameda with a proclamation making July 23rd "Al Vigna Day". A member of St. Barnabas Church for 58 years. Prominent member of the committee to build St. Barnabas School.

Al and his family traveled frequently to Hawaii, Palm Springs and Europe. He also was an avid golfer and bocce player. He enjoyed good food, good friends, and laughter. He will be deeply missed.

A memorial service in celebration of life will be held at St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 1427 6th Street, Alameda, on Friday, December 4th at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Barnabas Catholic Church or your favorite charity.

Al was the first to cut my hair over 60 years ago. I have enjoyed seeing them at the IAL hall in Alameda and losing to him in bocce ball every year.
