Masuye Makishima
A resident at the Hayward Kotobuki Home, Masuye passed away peacefully on Feb. 23 at 101 years of age. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hatsuichi, and a son, Jun. She is survived by a brother, Ray, sons, Eugene (Akiko), Dennis (Joanne), daughter, Lorraine, four grandsons and five great grandchildren. She was once active at the Berkeley Higashi Honganji Buddhist Temple, Sakura Kai, and Yamaguchi Kenjinkai. She fulfilled her dream of completing her education and received her high school diploma from Berkeley Adult School in 1994 at 83 years of age. Private services were held according to her wishes.
