Yick, Victor - San Francisco  
Victor Yick Victor Yick, age 85, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2016. He was born in San Francisco, CA on February 27, 1931 to Lum Yick and Gee Shee Lee. Devoted husband of Betty Yick (deceased), he is survived by daughters Victoria (Davis) Ng, Regina (Hubert) Wong, Elizabeth (Michael) Kim, and Alexandra (Thomas) Jensen, and six grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Jennie Yee, Raymond Yick, and Laura Lee. A life-long resident of S.F., he attended St. Mary's School, graduated from Polytechnic High School, and San Jose State University. He was a US Navy veteran (Korean War) and was employed at Bay Toll Crossings and BART. A gathering for family and friends to celebrate Victor's life will be held on Sunday, July 17th from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. at St. Anne of the Sunset, Moriarty Hall, 850 Judah St., San Francisco.

Ysmael, Magdalena - San Francisco  
Magdalena Brillantes Ysmael May 19, 1929 - June 21, 2016 Magdalena, ("Mama Maggie" to her family and "Nena" to her friends) passed away peacefully on June 21, 2016 in San Francisco, California. She lived a full life of 87 years. Born on May 19, 1929 in Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. Preceded in death by her father Tiburcio Ysmael and mother Cirila Brillantes, brothers Orencio (Rosing) and Concepcion (Peping), daughter Victoria Lucas Marucut (Vickie) and ex-husband Cosme E. Lucas. Survived by her sons George, Mario and Nestor; her only sister Carmen Foronda (Mameng); her 5 grandchildren Meagan, Micaela, Matthew, Jhorel and Jhinel; and all of her 8 great grandchildren (1 on the way) Maylene, DJ, Ayden, Maci, Laveah, Elijah and Amarah. Additionally, survived by her nieces Noemi, Stella, Diana and Elizabeth; her nephews Gary, Edwin and Rollie; cousins/relatives and loving friends both in the Philippines and U.S. She graduated from Santa Maria Provincial High School in 1949 and attended college at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in Manila, Philippines with a BS in Education (Major in Home Economics) in 1953. Thereafter, she worked at COMELEC (Commission on Elections) for several years. After her then husband Cosme petitioned the entire family, she immigrated to the United States with her 3 sons and daughter in August 1973, and settled in San Francisco, California. She worked at Bechtel Corp. in San Francisco for 12 years and retired early in 1987. After retiring, she took care of her grandchildren until they were old enough to attend grade school. To occupy her time, she took a part-time job as a Concierge of Ladies Locker Room at the SPA at Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco. She enjoyed working there and met a few celebrities and VIPs, and made several friends. She is now in a better place, but will be missed by all. The family Holidays and gatherings will not be the same without her. She loved her family unconditional and showed it in every way. Her life was her family. She adored all of her grandchildren. May God and Jesus Christ guide her to greener pastures. Mama, you will forever be in our hearts.
