Carter Larsen Obituary

Carter Lawrence Larsen Age 91, died peacefully February 28, 2010 in San Francisco. Beloved husband of Carita for 58 years, loving father of Carter Larsen, Brett Larsen, Caroline Husting (James) and Scott Larsen, deceased. Brother of Nancy Larsen, Grandfather of Laurence Larsen, Erica Husting, Harrison Husting and Michael Larsen. Born in Philadelphia, Carter graduated from Bucknell University and Harvard School of Business and settled in San Francisco. After serving in the Navy during World War II on the aircraft carrier Saratoga, he rose to rank of Commander. Interested in banking and investment, Carter was employed for many years and became Vice President of the Bank of California (now Union Bank) in San Francisco and Oakland. A preservationist, he was honored in New Jersey when he ensured his beachfront property would remain forever undisturbed. He had a lifelong passion of restoring older buildings consistent with their original designs. Also a viticulturist, he owned and managed vineyards in Alexander Valley since the mid 1960's, producing grapes for award winning wines. Carter was a long time member of the Pacific-Union Club. Services will be held Monday, March 8, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary the Virgin Episcopal Church, 2325 Union Street, San Francisco, 94123. Contributions may be made to the Sonoma Land Trust, www.sonomalandtrust.org. or Bucknell University, Lewisburg, PA.

Carita & Family,

Please accept my deepest condolences. Carter was a fine person and I will miss him as will all of us at Clos Du Bois Winery. I met Carter back in 1982 . In all those years of my interaction with Carter , he always brought his Positive energy and sense of Enjoyment to any dealing and visiting with Carter.
