Amy Rachel Stein
Age 37, of Squamish, British Columbia, formerly of Framingham, MA, died on Tuesday night May 14, 2013 near Leavenworth, Washington. She was with friends in a climbing group walking back to their campsite when a rock slide occurred, and she fell from a ledge trying to avoid being hit. Amy was a 1993 graduate of Framingham High School, a 1997 graduate of Dartmouth College and attained her master's degree in architecture from Rhode Island School of Design in 2004. She relocated to Squamish in 2006 because of her love of climbing and the outdoors. Amy was the daughter of Jay A. Stein of Boston (formerly of Framingham) and the late Audrey W. Stein. In addition to her father, she is survived by her brothers, Benjamin Stein of New York City and Peter Stein of Needham, MA, Peter's wife Rebecca Stein, her stepmother, Gretchen Fox Stein, her stepsister Jin Fox, her stepbrother Fleming Fox and her six nieces and Nephews, Annie, Jack and Jason Stein of Needham; Sylvi, Sammy and Zachary Stein of New York. Services at the Levine Chapel, 470 Harvard Street, Brookline on Monday, May 20 at 10:30am. Interment at the Framingham Natick Jewish Cemetery, 20 Windsor Avenue, Natick. The family will receive friends and family in their Boston home following the interment and on Tuesday evening 6-9pm. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to a charity to be named.
