David Raymond Krow
Passed away on March 5, 2013. He died due to Leukemia and also suffered from heart and kidney problems. Born the son of Oscar and Sarah Krow on February 7, 1915 at Lane Hospital in San Francisco; he attend Commodore Sloat Elementary School and Balboa High School. Dave enjoyed baseball and golf, playing both as a young man.
A proud World War II Veteran, as a Private he fought on Utah Beach for our freedom on D-Day and while being in the 1st Army, participated in the battles of Ardennes, Northern France, Bastogne, Rhineland and Normandy. Dave received the European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal, American Campaign Medal, American Defense Medal, World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal for his service.
After returning home, he attended classes at City College and worked for most of his years at Colyears Auto Supply as a manager in Government Sales.
On April 11, 1981, he married Lucille Meagher, the love of his life. He was a devoted and loving husband who absolutely enjoyed being a part of the Meagher family; where he was a wonderful brother-in-law and Uncle to all. He and Lucille loved traveling; going on Tauck tours to the East Coast and Canada but their favorite location was the Illikai in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Dave was a member of the Olympic Club and loved taking friends and family to the Lakeside Club. He was also a member of "Sons in Retirement" (SIRS) and enjoyed their monthly lunches at the Elks Club.
Known as a "gentlemen's gentlemen" for his kind and courtly ways, he was a genuine treasure in life. Dave was a wonderful husband, Uncle, cousin and friend and will be greatly missed by all.
Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at the St. Robert Bellermine section gravesite.
