Domenico "Sandy" Assogna On September 16, 2007, Domenico Sandy Assogna, age 82, passed away peacefully at home in San Bruno with his loving family by his side. Domenico Sandy Assogna is survived by the love of his life, his devoted wife of 48 years, Evangeline Assogna; his seven loving children: Norman Bautista, Franklin Bautista, Barbara Mitchell (Michael), Susan Pavesi (Gianni), Chiara Levin, Sandy Peck (Steve) and his son, Federico Assogna who lovingly cared for him during the last six years of his life. He is also survived by his eight adoring grandchildren: Michael Mitchell, David Mitchell, Joshua Bautista, Zachary Bautista, Alex Bautista, Vincenzo Levin, Domenic Levin; and the sparkle of his eye, his granddaughter Angelina Peck; and two great-grandchildren, Allyssa Bautista and Danielle Mitchell. We will all miss him dearly. Domenico Sandy Assogna our family's hero, our "Papa Bello," he was the heart and soul of our family. He was determined, proud, strong-willed and always remained optimistic through difficult times. As quoted in the La Cirtica Italian newspaper in August 1958, "He's got a soft heart even when he was wearing boxing gloves." He was an inspiration to his family and friends and lived the way life was meant to be lived. Friends and family are invited to visit from 9am-8pm on Thurs, Sep 20, and to attend the Rosary at 7pm at Green Street Mortuary, 649 Green Street, San Francisco, CA. On Fri, Sep 21, friends may visit and view again from 8:30-10:45am, followed by the celebration of the Funeral Mass at 11am at St. Peter & Paul Church, 666 Filbert St., San Francisco, CA, followed by Interment at the Italian Cemetery, 540 F Street, Colma, CA. Love starts with a smile, grows with a kiss and ends with a tear.
