Edward Callan M.D.

Edward J. Callan MD Ed passed away unexpectedly at his home in Mill Valley, CA.
Ed was born in Texas and raised in Florida. He graduated from Tulane University in 1978 and from the University of Florida College of Medicine in 1982. In 1984, his ENT residency brought him to the Bay Area. Ed worked as an ENT/ Head and Neck Surgeon at Kaiser Permanente in Richmond, CA for 25 years. A dedicated surgeon, his colleagues respected him for his expertise, intelligence, and work ethic. He was thoughtful and compassionate to his patients and co-workers.
Ed and his wife (Anne Heideck) met at Tulane University. They traveled the world together, experiencing its many wonders. Ed was a loving and generous husband, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. He enjoyed academic, athletic and artistic pursuits.
While he loved sports, traveling and outdoor activities, he also enjoyed quoting lines from his favorite movies and TV shows. Ed's smile, humor, funny quips, thoughtfulness, and inquisitive mind will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Ed loved life and lived it to the fullest.
Ed is survived by his wife, Anne; his mother, Valerie; his sisters, Ann, Monica, Lori, and Meg; and his brothers, Tom (Alison), Jim (Walley), Dan (Julie) and many nieces and nephews. Ed is preceded in death by his father, Francis (Frank) Callan. He will be truly missed by his extended Callan and Heideck families.
