Frederic Robert Tooker
Fred passed away peacefully on November 19, 2012. He was born in Connecticut in 1933 to Robert Tooker and Catherine O'Conner and was the brother to his beloved sister Susan who preceded him in death. At age 13, Fred moved with his family to San Francisco, a city which he adored, where he graduated from Galileo High School and was inducted into its Sports Hall of Fame as an outstanding football player and swimmer. Fred served in the U.S. Navy in Korea aboard the USS Gunston Hall, and shortly thereafter he began a successful career as a court reporter and partner of Tooker & Antz Court Reporters, recently celebrating its 50th anniversary in business, and started a family eventually moving to San Rafael.
Fred was an avid reader and conversationalist. He had a tremendous sense of humor and loved immensely his family, friends and business colleagues. He traveled frequently with his wife and later with his partner, and often opened his own home to family and friends coming to San Francisco where he showed them the sights. Fred was a sports fan and played the piano beautifully and loved talking to his eight grandchildren about their own pursuits in sports and music. Fred was a true gentleman who had a kind heart and he will be sorely missed.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife Patricia and is survived by his three children Lori, Rob (Teresa) and Rick (Lisa) and his four grandsons Patrick, Ryan, Justin and Sean. Fred is also survived by his partner Marolyn Chow and her sons Greg (Ruth) and Gary (Candace) and four grandchildren Alex, Robbie, Kate and Jonnie. Fred is also survived by his brother-in-law Alex Gallegos and three nieces Delia, Ann and Patricia, of whom he was immensely proud to be their Uncle.
All are invited to a Memorial Service to be held at the Mission San Rafael Arcangel, (1104 5th Ave, San Rafael) on Saturday, December 15th at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the .
