Frederick Cooper

Frederick H Cooper

With family at his side, Fred Cooper's long and rich life quietly ended on Nov 3rd. He touched many with his commitment to family, to getting the job done 'right', and to his desire for fun.

Fred was born in Sebastopol, CA and preceded in death by his two sisters and two brothers. In 1942 he married Alberta Finn with whom he celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary prior to her death in 2004. After serving in the US Army in Europe, during which time he was awarded the Bronze Star, Fred returned to the Bay Area where he co-owned "Ortland Brothers' Meat Market" on Solano Avenue. In 1978, he retired enjoying many years with family and friends, as well as working in his garden and a well deserved time for relaxation.

Fred is survived by his four loving children: Diane of Oregon, Catherine ("Cathy") of Walnut Creek, Michael of Point Richmond, and Dennis ("Bo") of Washington, as well as two grandchildren, Ann C Cooper and John M Cooper of the Bay Area.  In addition, he will be remembered fondly as their special "Uncle Fred" by many caring nieces and nephews in California and the Pacific Northwest.

Fred was interred at St. Joseph Cemetery, San Pablo, CA.  A memorial Mass will be held by family and friends in the future.
